Usher Remembers Being A 'Pizza Face' On 'When I Was 17'
Usher on "When I Was 17"
Photo: MTV News
He's known as one of the smoothest R&B sensations to grace the stage, but when Usher was 17, he grappled with a far less flattering image.
"I went through this phase where I had really, really bad acne," the singer admits on the latest episode of "When I Was 17," premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. Usher, who was 17 in 1995, reveals with a grin that his nickname was "Pizza Face."
"His acne was so horrible," recalled one of Usher's more blunt friends, Keith. "His face was so jacked up."
Music mogul and producer Jermaine Dupri remembered how the entertainer's spotty complexion led him to shy away from the spotlight.
"He didn't want to go out. He wanted to stay in," Dupri says. "He was a little ashamed of what was going on with his face."
The singer went to extreme, and ultimately unsuccessful, lengths to disguise his breakouts.
"As a dude, you're not gonna put makeup on your face, right?" Usher said. "I tried that, it didn't even work."
He may have experimented with cosmetics and spent a few more nights at home but the multiplatinum star didn't let his acne hold him back from wooing the ladies. "I was 17, so I would still try to talk to girls [and] get past it," Usher reasoned.
He even had some smooth lines to drop when he wanted to draw attention away from his skin. " 'Don't look at that, look at my eyes, baby. I'm trying to say something real serious to you right here,' " Usher recalled, reenacting his complexion-deflecting dating moves. "I know I have pizza face, I don't care."
In the end, his skin cleared up and the singer said it was just a matter of riding out a rite passage that many teens are forced to endure.
"This is something that all 17-year-olds have to deal with," Usher said. "You can't run away from it."
— this week featuring B.o.B, Usher and Ne-Yo — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV

Ellen DeGeneres Grills Taylor Swift About Jake Gyllenhaal
During a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show the Grammy winner was grilled by the host on her status and whether she's getting cozy with the actor.
"Are you optimistic about love?" Ellen DeGeneres asked Swift, 20. "How do you feel about love right now?" The singer attempted to dodge the question, saying, "I'm always optimistic about love." But DeGeneres asked again, "So you're always optimistic about love?"
This time Swift was a little flustered. "Yes, always...sometimes," she said. "Why wouldn't anyone be?" But the always-ready DeGeneres responded coyly: "Especially if your boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal, because he is very handsome... Y'all are just hanging out though, right?"
Swift, who is promoting her latest album Speak Now, did not confirm whether she's actually dating Gyllenhaal, 29, but she did admit that the two dined together in Brooklyn. Swift then asked DeGeneres and her audience, "You have a picture of us on the (TV) screen, don't you?"
Though DeGeneres enjoyed teasing the country darling, it was clear she's a major supporter of the possibly blossoming relationship. "I'm just saying he's adorable and I like him very much, and so if that is the case that he's your boyfriend, I think that's fantastic," she said.
Still, DeGeneres does have her doubts for Gyllenhaal (who, coincidentally appeared in the same Vampire Weekend music video as Swift's ex Joe Jonas!). Joking about Swift's habit of writing about romances gone awry, the host pointed out: "Wouldn't he be nervous if anything goes wrong?"
Do you think Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal would make for a cute couple, too? Chime in below!

CCleaner version 3 goes 64-bit, adds secure disk wipe, Windows 7 integration
When it comes to system cleanup programs, CCleaner is pretty much the hands-down favorite with Download Squad readers. It's been a trusted tool for years, and the newly-released CCleaner 3 is better than ever.
What's new in v3? To start, there's now a native 64-bit version in both the installer and portable CCleaner. Windows 7 users also get the benefit of a handy jump list, which offers quick access to the cleaner, registry scanner, tools, and options pages. There's also a new disk wiping tool included which supports DOD, NSA, and Gutmann standards.
CCleaner 3 has improved support for Internet Explorer 9, Google Chrome, and Silverlight. Perhaps the app's best new feature is support for HTML5 localStorage objects -- which many websites are now using to store persistent user data.

Irked by UFC 121 Mexican angle? Then don't watch this new promo
eat a burrito just for your Hispanic heritage," said Lesnar (video -1:15 mark). "How about
that?" Kevin Iole and I have covered boxing for a long time and this kind of marketing is pervasive and frankly a must in the fight game. We discuss the "outrage" on the part of some bloggers and fans. Message boards are filled with debates over Velasquez's "Brown Pride" tattoo and the UFC's use of the young Latino star to market MMA to Mexicans and Mexican-Americans.MMAforReal points out that the Mexican fighter angle for UFC 121 coincides with Top Rank Promotion's effort to sell the Antonio Margarito-Manny Pacquiao fight on Nov. 13. Michael Jackson Doctors Won't Be Charged In Singer's Death
Michael Jackson
Photo: Getty Images
Seven doctors who treated the late Michael Jackson will not be charged in the singer's death. According to The Associated Press California officials said Wednesday (July 28) that they will not file charges against the doctors who were under scrutiny as part of an investigation launched by the state's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
Jackson passed away in June 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest. His personal doctor Conrad Murray — who was not one of the seven doctors included in the investigation — has been charged in his death and pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter after allegedly giving the star the potent anesthetic propofol.
"I am very disappointed," said Brian Oxman, an attorney for Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson. "The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality." Oxman is serving as Joe Jackson's lawyer in a wrongful death suit against Murray.
Bureau spokesperson Christine Gasparac told the AP that one of the doctors who was under investigation was referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to one of Jackson's aliases, however, a spokesperson for the board did not confirm the referral. A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency told the AP that it has also dropped its investigation into Jackson's doctors.
Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff has maintained that the doctor did not administer a fatal dose of propofol and has suggested that either Jackson gave himself the anesthetic or another person may have supplied the late star with the dose. However, an anesthesia expert has said the possibility of Jackson administering the drug himself is unlikely.
A preliminary hearing in the Jackson manslaughter case is slated for August and Murray faces a sentence of up to four years in jail.

Offsite for Google Chrome helps you discover related content
Full disclosure: AOL is DownloadSquad's parent company
AOL has been busy re-tooling itself ever since head honcho Tim Armstrong took the reigns, and one area that has received a lot of attention is social networking and content discovery. Lifestream is, perhaps, AOL's biggest social app, and now there's a second: Offsite.
Currently, Offsite is available as an extension for Google Chrome. Once installed, simply click the icon in your Omnibar (or the folded-over page corner in the top left) to load the Offsite overlay. The page you're currently viewing slides down and to the right, with relevant tweets taking the left column and related posts from other websites appears at the top (image after the break). A stream of trending topics is also shown, and Digg, Twitter, and AOL Mail sharing buttons are provided. Offsite also displays the page's "heat index," giving you a vague idea how popular it is right now.
Unlike AOL Lifestream for Chrome, Offsite loads in a flash. While it's handy in its current state, I'd like to see the sharing options tweaked. Facebook should be an option, and support for other email providers (and even the good old mailto:) would be a welcome improvement.
I'd also like to see this implemented as a bookmarklet so that users of other browsers can use Offsite -- which shouldn't be hard, given the nature of most Chrome extensions.

30 Seconds To Mars, Ke$ha Plan Big VMA Arrivals

For much of the past decade, the MTV Video Music Awards has really been two shows: The one where they hand out the Moonmen, and the one that occurs on the red carpet, where the stars try their very best to outdo each other with over-the-top arrivals.
From yachts to 18-wheel trucks, elephants to horse-drawn carriages, how you arrive at the VMAs has become just as important as whether you take home an award. As you can probably imagine, sometimes, things get a little crazy.
"Usually, artists don't let us know [how they're arriving] until the last minute, which makes things interesting," Video Music Awards Pre-Show executive producer Ryan Kroft told MTV News. "A lot of times, they'll want to do things like land a hot-air balloon on the carpet, or drive a car down the carpet, but generally, the fire marshal frowns on those kinds of things, so we have to tell them 'no.' "
Still, there are plenty of ideas that do get the green light, and they're just as epic as the stars that thought them up. And this year's VMA arrivals are no different, though for aesthetic reasons, they're slightly scaled back.
"In New York, we had stars arriving on a fire truck, a double-decker bus, but that wouldn't play this year," Kroft said. "The carpet is designed to look like the stars are arriving at a Hollywood Hills mansion — white, chrome, glass — so having someone arrive with a marching band would seem somewhat out of place."
But there are big arrivals nonetheless: One of the biggest involves 30 Seconds to Mars, who have already started touting their entrance as being thoroughly crazy.
"30 Seconds to Mars are recreating a scene from their 'Kings and Queens' video," Kroft explained. "They'll have an army of bicyclists arriving with them, and they'll be riding bikes themselves. Most of the bicyclists are from the video."
Going equally big is Ke$ha, who has a few surprises ready for the VMA carpet. We don't want to give it all away, but here's what we can reveal: "Ke$ha has big plans for the carpet. I can't talk about all of them, but she is arriving in a Delorean, which she got herself," Kroft said. "It'll be like 'Back to the Future.' "
And, in keeping with grand tradition, there are still plenty of stars who haven't said how they're going to be arriving — Jay Sean is planning something "big and sexy," Soulja Boy Tell'em has some swaggadocious plans in the works, and Bruno Mars is still plotting, too — and then, there's Lady Gaga, who ... well, you never know what she'll do.
"We still don't know what some people are doing," Kroft laughed. "The only way you'll know is to tune in to the VMA Pre-Show and watch."
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.3 adds Web and URL scanning, nixes the nag screens
Panda launched their lightweight Cloud Antivirus app just under a year ago, and it's already received a number of significant updates and improvements. Today, they're announcing the release of Cloud Antivirus 1.3 -- and a few more cool feature additions.
Probably the most significant addition is Cloud AV's ability to filter malicious URLs and websites -- regardless of which browser you're using. Using the Web filter does require installing a toolbar, but that's a trade-off some of your less security-minded friends and family might be willing to make.
Other changes include improvements to Cloud AV's behavioral and blocking rules, which Panda now updates on the fly. Cloud Antivirus also now updates all of its rules and even installs program updates without requiring user interaction. The icing on the v1.3 cake is Panda's decision to remove the nag screens.
Now, I'm not one to complain too much about a free antivirus program that pops up the odd banner advertising a company's paid products... but if Panda's willing to get rid of the nags in Cloud AV, that's just fine with me. You will still see a promotional pop-up for the pro version during the install process, but according to the official blog post that's all, folks.

LDK Solar Inks $300 Million Deal With BYD
On Monday morning, LDK Solar announced that it has locked up a new two-year sales deal with Chinese juggernaut BYD worth roughly $300 million. Under the deal, LDK will provide monthly shipments of polysilicon starting on January 2011.
It's another win for the solar wafer manufacturer, which earlier this month raised its third quarter guidance about 7% to a range of $610 to $640 million. In addition to raising its outlook, LDK noted that shipments of solar wafers and modules were outpacing demand.

Winamp for Android beta is full-featured and offers wireless media sync
Winamp for Android's key feature -- and indeed, the only real feature that it brings to a very saturated media player market -- is that it wirelessly syncs with your desktop Winamp music library. You can also sync via USB (which is a lot faster). I ran into a few issues trying to sync with Wi-Fi, but it did eventually work.
Nullsoft's offering doesn't bring a whole lot more to the party. There is a desktop widget, so you can control your music without having to open Winamp -- and it can also hook into your phone's lock screen, which is neat. The playback controls are available at the bottom of every screen, too -- so whether you're curating a playlist or searching through albums, you can still stop and start the music. Oh, there's Last.fm scrobbling too!
All in all it's a very promising start for Winamp on Android. It's not mind-blowingly awesome, but if you use Winamp on the desktop, this app is surely a must-have.
Check out the gallery below for a better idea of the 'omnipresent' playback controls, and the wireless sync.

In one year, Windows 7 closing in on a quarter billion sold
Over at the Windows Team Blog, Brandon LeBlanc reports that Windows 7 has sold more than 240 million copies so far. That's not too shabby for just over a year on the market. The post also goes on to say that Windows 7's global market share is closing in on 20%.
While the numbers are impressive thus far, don't forget that most businesses won't be jumping on the Win7 bandwagon until SP1 is released -- which should happen early next year.
It'll be interesting to see if Windows 7 sales can keep up their current pace. What's the daily average work out to? About 630,000 or so? Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover
Adam Lambert performs "Whole Lotta Love" on "American Idol" on Tuesday
Photo: R. Mickshaw/Getty Images/ Fox
Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.
The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.
Get your "Idol" fix on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

A posting in their Chromium Google Group notes they'd like Chrome 8 to hit the beta stage sometime in the next several days. That's pretty crazy considering that it wasonly 3 days ago that Google officially released Chrome 7."I'm working to shorten the beta cycle for this release as much as possible," a developer wrote a couple days ago noting that meant they had to focus on blocker bugs (the bugs stopping a version from hitting beta). The developer also notes that this is a part of making sure Google's ultra-fast six week release cycle remains feasible.

Firefox 4 edges out Chrome in SunSpider test
You may not be checking in on AreWeFastYet.com all that often. You may even have not known it existed until just now. Whatever the case may be, there's a very good reason to pay attention to Mozilla's Firefox 4 performance gauge.
In tonight's test run, Firefox's SpiderMonkey and the JIT tandem of JägerMonkey and TraceMonkey finally beat Google Chrome's V8 engine in a SunSpider benchmark showdown. If you take a look at the current chart, you'll see that Firefox has is even getting close on Google's own V8 benchmark -- cutting its time in half over the last two months.
I've been impressed over the last couple of days with the feel of speed in the latest Minefield builds and I didn't really need to see Mozilla's chart to know what was happening -- but it definitely provides confirmation. If you haven't tried a nightly build of Firefox 4 in a while and found yourself poo-pooing its JavaScript performance last time, you really should give it another go.

Upstart vocalist Alisa Apps has nabbed headlines by challenging megastar pop queen Lady Gaga to a $1 million singing contest. To some onlookers, the contest may have appeared to come out of nowhere, but Apps has explained that her dedicated fans urged her to take on Mother Monster. During an interview that aired Friday (October 15) on MTV's "The Seven," the singer detailed the origins of the vocal battle.
"I had my fans writing to me and saying, 'Hey, I think you're better than Lady Gaga and ... it'd be cool for you to challenge her somehow,' " Apps told "Seven" host Kevin.
The singer maintained that her goal isn't to make nice with Gaga and added that a little rivalry keeps everyone on their toes.
"It's not really about co-existing," Apps said. "I think that competition is a good thing. It makes things more fun and exciting."
Gaga's camp was mum when MTV News reached out for comment about the challenge a few days ago, and Apps revealed that she hasn't "heard anything yet from her camp but I'm excited to."
Although no word about the challenge has surfaced from the "Bad Romance" diva, Apps still seems ready to show off her skills in a singing smack-down.
"I'm confident that, yeah, I am a better singer than her," she said.
When Apps first proposed the $1 million contest, which would entail both singers belting out a series of songs for a panel of judges who would determine the victor, she said she felt it would be the ultimate clash of genuine musicianship versus slick music-industry marketing.
"I feel sorry for Lady Gaga — she's just a plastic doll generated by the music money marketing machine," Apps said a press release. "I stand for the voice of your heart. Be real with me. Come to my world and feel. I want to hear you and for you to hear me. This contest gives people a chance to choose which they prefer: plastic or real."

Chilean Miner Rescue is a very slow-paced and heart-warming Time Waster
The game -- if it can be called that -- is simple. You turn a wheel that sends a lift plunging down into the depths of the mine, you pick a miner up, and then you spin the wheel to return the mucky hero to the surface. Repeat that rather arduous process 33 times and you have Chilean Miner Rescue.
It takes about 10 minutes to play through, and boy does time crawl by slowly. But then you remember that these guys spent 69 days underground. That puts things quickly into perspective.
I admit I didn't play through the whole thing, so there might be some kind of surprise that awaits the 'winners'. Leave a comment if you make it to the end, and tell us your completion time too!

Ke$ha Goes 'Hard' On New Single, 'We R Who We R'
Ke$ha

Ke$ha has found a chart-topping formula — combine killer beats with lyrics about super-fun parties and hot pants. And her latest single, "We R Who We R," certainly fits that mold.
The track, the first single off her November 22 release Cannibal, hit the Internet on Thursday (October 14). It's another uber-fun tune about how awesome it is to dance the night away, with Ke$ha singing on the chorus: "Tonight we're going hard/ Just like the world is ours/ We're tearing it apart/ You know we're superstars/ we are who we are."
While the song doesn't veer much from prior club bangers like "Tik Tok" and "Take It Off," the singer admits that "We R" is in part inspired by the recent rash of suicides among gay youth. "I wanted to inspire people to be themselves," she told EW.com. "It's a celebration of any sort of quirks or eccentricities."
In January, Ke$ha released her debut album Animal and it went straight to the top of the charts. Cannibal — a nine-song set that features collaborations with Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh — is set to be released both on its own and as a bundle with Animal.
"I don't want to go away!" she said. "I feel like I'm creating this hopefully very youthful and irreverent movement of the kids, of, like, adolescence. I feel like the parents don't get it, but the kids get it. And they deserve to have more good, positive music ... It's fun as sh--! So I wanted to give [my fans] that."
The Seventeen cover girl also tweeted a message to her fans about the tune: "WE R WHO WE R! on the radio today you guys like??? dancin liiiiike were dumbbbb we be forever younggggg."

Taylor Swift Says Her Potential Boyfriends Have 'Fair Warning'
Taylor Swift
Photo: MTV News
Take it from Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner: If you end up in Swift's romantic life, she will probably write a song about you.
"It sort of is what it is," she told MTV News when she sat down to chat about her new album, Speak Now, out Monday. "I've had this formula for a long time that I've kind of applied to my music."
So what is Swift's chart-topping formula? "If I continue to write music about my life and my life is always changing, then my music is always changing," she revealed. "And if I change that whole process of writing music, that entire process of writing songs in my bedroom about what I'm going through at that moment — because the only way I know how to understand pain or move past it is to write songs about it — if I change that, I'm really more changing a part of who I am. And I don't really want to start doing that."
With that in mind, Swift has no worries about her dating life — even if she knows her potential suitors might have some reservations.
"It's understandable, but ... I've never kept quiet the fact that I write songs about people," she said. "It's like, this is album number three. You guys have had fair warning!"
What do you think about Taylor Swift's songwriting formula? Is it too personal? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Justin Bieber Displays His Rap Skills In New Twitter Video
Justin Bieber
Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage
Having given fans a taste of his rapping skills during live performances of "Baby" when he tackles the verse Ludacris recorded for the tune, Justin Bieber is now displaying his keen spitting prowess in a new video posted on his Twitter. In the grainy clip titled "Speaking in Tongues," Bieber raps his own lyrics over Cam'ron and Vado's "Speakin Tongues," and in a message posted on the webpage, he announced that his rap alias is Shawty Mane.
"Speaking in tongues freestyle... who knew I could rap lol," he wrote. "My alter ego rap name is Shawty Mane... hah."
The video features shots of Bieber in the studio and hanging out in the streets rocking some glasses. Early on, he gives a shout-out to Lady Gaga: "Call up Lady Gaga on my on my telephone/ Hello doll/ You're my girl/ Beats no metronome."
He then talks up his own capabilities, rhyming, "So I'm raptor/ Tearing it up like a tractor/ Matter fact you're not feeling this track, you're a slacker." Later, he raps, "Stop, drop and roll/ Justin Bieber's on fire/ It's time to realize it's time to call me young sire."
At the end of the clip, Bieber — who hangs out with such hip-hop heavyweights as Drake, Kanye West and the aforementioned Luda — has a little message for those listening to the track. "You guys might know me as the guy who sings 'Baby'/ You know, uh, I'm a singer, pop singer/ I'm white/ But, um, you know I just wanted to do this just to prove that/ You know I got skills, on, on, on the rap game."
Last December, Bieber's pal, rapper Asher Roth, defended his buddy's rapping skills to MTV News. "He lived like a block away from me. Watching him is like watching your little brother. It's crazy," Roth said, referring to their time in Atlanta together. "He can rap. I put him on a remix, but I don't think his mom would like that very much."

Tasker for Android lets your phone react to its current state or environment
There's a new, interesting and quite unique Android app on the market. It's called Tasker, and it gives your phone the power to react to its current state or environment. It gives your phone the ability to work autonomously without your direct input -- in effect, Tasker gives your phone rudimentary artificial intelligence.
It works by creating rules that question your phone's current "context" (or state): "Is the phone upside down?"; "Have you just missed a call?"; "Is your battery almost empty?" -- if any of these questions returns a "yes," then an action is carried out. That's where this app becomes magical: an action can be almost anything. Your phone can make a call, or send an SMS; it can alter the ringing volume during work hours, or silence it during the night; it can run apps, or react to when you plug in the USB cable or headphones. This is remarkably similar to context-aware patents currently dueling through the US patent system filed by Google and Apple.
The excellent FastCompany review walks you through a nice rule: if you place your phone face-down (say, in a meeting), it automatically switches to silent mode. They also suggest another awesome rule: tell Tasker to SMS "on the way home" to a loved one when your GPS coordinates reach the train station.
My nerdy brain is leaping to try some really crazy ideas, though. How about using GPS so that your laptop only unlocks if your phone is nearby? Or a dead man's switch that formats your phone if it gets too far away from your laptop -- or if you don't open a certain app by 5pm each day? Of course you could tell the phone to take a photo every 10 minutes so that any potential thieves are caught in the act! The possibilities are almost endless.
The app itself costs about $5 from the Android Market, but you can download a 7-day trial from the Tasker site (which you can later upgrade). The Tasker Wiki has lots of excellent guides and walkthroughs to get you started, and even some ready-made profiles for every-day tasks.Tasker for Android lets your phone react to its current state or environment originally appeared on Download Squad on Mon, 18 Oct 2010 16:00:00 EST. Ke$ha To Return With Cannibal On November 22
Ke$ha
Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ Getty Images
Taking a page from Lady Gaga's playbook, Ke$ha will return November 22 with Cannibal, a nine-song "companion" to her platinum-plus debut disc Animal that, like Gaga's The Fame Monster, will be sold both as a standalone album and as part of a deluxe reissue.
According to a press release sent Wednesday (October 13) by her label, RCA, Cannibal will feature eight brand-new songs — produced by the likes of Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh — and a new remix. The first single from the mini-album, "We R Who We R," is scheduled to hit radio Thursday.
Cannibal is set to be released both on its own and bundled with Ke$h's Animal disc in a reissue called — fittingly enough — Animal + Cannibal. And if the whole thing sounds rather, well, ravenous, well, that's pretty much what the singer had in mind.
"This year has been carnivorous and life-changing. I have my rowdy, gorgeous fans to thank for taking me on the ride of a lifetime," she said in a statement. "My only goal with this record is to keep them dancing. The songs on Cannibal were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically. It's the perfect companion to Animal and I hope you guys like it. And if you don't like it — bite me."
Well, OK then. The announcement of Cannibal comes one day after the news that Ke$ha had been nominated for three American Music Awards — more than any artist not named Eminem, Justin Bieber and Lady Antebellum. The AMAs will air November 21, one day before Ke$ha's albums hit stores.

Justin Bieber To Release Acoustic Album
Justin Bieber
Photo: Gerardo Mora/ Getty Images
Justin Bieber has revealed that this holiday season he's going to release an acoustic album. He made the announcement via Twitter.
"Curious...What is your favorite song on MY WORLD and MY WORLD 2.0?? If you could remix any song with another artist which would it be? And who would you want me to duet with?? and on which song?? Thanks," he initially tweeted before spilling a few more beans about the forthcoming release.
In addition to old tunes, it seems this album will feature a brand-new song as well. "hey dankanter I think it's time to make an UNPLUGGED album for the fans for the holidays....or maybe we already did...hmmmm," he then tweeted to Dan Kanter, the singer's musical director and guitarist. "Maybe we need to give everybody an UNPLUGGED acoustic album with that new song I cut in Hawaii for the holidays...thoughts???"
Bieber, who plays acoustic guitar during many of his live performances, then revealed that he has already recorded songs for the album. Further information, including the release date and the album's title, was not available at press time. "So I'm thinking about breaking out the acoustic guitar and having some fun... ...so an UNPLUGGED album for the HOLIDAYS????" he wrote. "Listening to tracks from the new UNPLUGGED acoustic album. feeling really good about it. dankanter u excited. back to the roots."
Kanter tweeted about the vibe of the album. "@justinbieber Loving the percussion... Cajones and congas!" he teased. "Definitely an influence from our travels around the world!"
At the VMAs, Bieber revealed that he is working on an album of all-new music as well. "[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year," he said. "Drake is gonna be on that album; I'm not sure [who else]. I'm gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there."
