MMA Top 10 Light Heavyweights: Who's No. 2?
by Michael David SmithWhen you're trying to rank MMA fighters, it's easy to say you'll just rank them based on who they've beaten and who they've lost to inside the cage. It's a lot harder to actually create the rankings when you realize that it's mathematically impossible to rank every fighter ahead of the guys he's beaten and behind the guys who have beaten him.
That's the challenge of picking the No. 2 light heavyweight in the world right now. UFC light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua is No. 1, but there are three candidates for No. 2: Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans. And there's simply no way to rank those three without putting one of them behind someone he's beaten, and another one ahead of a man who has beaten him. Machida beat Evans, Evans beat Rampage, and Rampage beat Machida. Any way you slice it, someone has to get ranked ahead of someone who beat him in the cage.

Lady Gaga's Fragrance To Launch Spring 2012

From the meat dress to the disco stick, Lady Gaga has been known to introduce her share of inventive ideas. And in spring 2012, her monsters will able to share one of her more tangible creations, her fragrance line.
According to a press release, the singer has teamed up with global beauty company Coty Inc. to release the line. As with most Gaga originals, the project will be a collaborative effort between the singer and her Haus of Gaga design family. While it was reported last month that the fragrance would be called Monster, the release did not confirm the name.
"Lady Gaga's universal appeal makes her a subject of fascination," Coty CEO Bernd Beetz explained in the release. "A force like no other, Lady Gaga is explosive, provocative and sexy, three traits which pave the way for an extraordinary fragrance experience for consumers."
Though Gaga is joining a long list of other celebrities with their own fragrances, Beetz said that the team is aiming at marking new territories with this scent. "We welcome Lady Gaga to the Coty family and look forward to breaking boundaries that will allow people to experience beauty in a different and unique way," he said.
The marketing plans for the fragrance are still in development, but Gaga's "little monsters" can expect the scent to make a splash on the scene that differs from her pop-star peers. Coty marketing exec Steve Mormoris described the forthcoming campaign for the fragrance as "unprecedented and groundbreaking" and said he hopes to create a packaging design that encompasses the singer's "artistic sensibility."

Report: 'Teen Mom' Star Could Lose Custody of Her Daughter
The never-ending drama is far from over for Teen Mom star Amber Portwood.
The troubled 20-year-old reality star has been under investigation for domestic abuse against her ex-fiance Gary Shirley (Portwood was seen striking Shirley repeatedly with their young daughter present, a moment which aired on the popular MTV docu-series) and has since been charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor and faces up to three years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines. And now the single mom could potentially lose her 2-year-old daughter Leah for good.
RadarOnline.com says a source told them that on Tuesday Portwood and Shirley's child had become a ward of the state of Indiana following an emergency child placement hearing. Under Indiana law, if it's decided that a child is "in need of services," then they become a ward of the state. A hearing is usually held within 48 hours to attempt to place the child with a suitable family member. Guardianship is determined by a judge who appoints a government agency to oversee the child's affairs.
Baby Leah is currently living with her father after Portwood left her in his care, but her mom could still fight for custody in light of this latest development. It was also reported that the Department of Child Services has been monitoring Portwood's visits with her daughter and will continue to do so if Shirley's home is deemed suitable for Leah.
This is clearly a rough time for the troubled mom. "Being away from my daughter is the lowest of the low," Portwood told US Weekly.
She and Shirley, who have had nothing short of a tumultuous relationship on and off camera, declined to comment to Radar following the ruling.

Justin Bieber is already getting fans excited for the release of his 3-D flick, "Never Say Never." The singer will hold special sneak-peek screenings of the flick on February 9, two days before it opens nationwide.
Need more details? Well, the screenings will be held at 6 p.m. at specially selected movie theaters across the country. Additionally, fans can get their tickets to the concert-film event starting on November 29. Bieber lovers who purchase passes also will receive official movie merchandise like a souvenir VIP lanyard, a glow stick, a bracelet and purple 3-D glasses.
"Everyone thinks this is going to be another 3-D concert movie, but it's anything but that," Justin Bieber said in a statement about the event. "It's a story of how my family, friends and the fans helped me get here and every day are helping me live an impossible dream. That's why I want them to see it first."
When MTV News caught up with Bieber at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, he revealed what fans can expect from the flick. "They'll be surprised just to see I'm a regular person," he said. "I'm a regular teenage boy. I like girls and I like to hang out with my friends. It's gonna be taking them into my world, but also like it's their world cause it's just normal."
These recent comments about the flick echo ones Bieber shared with us last month. "I want to let people know there's a lot of people that are discouraging in life and that will tell you you can't do something, but you just got to remember that the sky's the limit," he told us. "You're able to do whatever you set your mind to as long as you remember to keep God first and stay grounded. So I think the movie really explains that, and it's really inspiring."

Alessio Sakara was a fight day casualty today in Germany at UFC 122. An undisclosed illness (described as flu-like symptoms) forced the promotion to scrap the Sakara-Jorge Rivera fight, which was slated to be the co-main event. Duane "Bang" Ludwig was the beneficiary. His fight against against Nick Osipczak was moved to the main card. They engaged in a back and forth battle. Osipczak did more damage in the first and Ludwig was overwhelming in the third. The issue arose with the second. It was razor thin. Ludwig (pictured) got the nod on 2-of-3 judges' cards and walked away with a split decision win on the first televised fight at UFC 122.If anyone deserved a break it was Ludwig (20-11, 3-2 UFC). A 72-match veteran of the fight game, he'd experienced heartbreak after heartbreak with the UFC. He made a stupid mistake at UFC 108 and got armbarred by Jim Miller. Then at UFC on Versus 1 this March, he suffered fluke injury in the first round when he tried to brace his fall on a takedown, Ludwig suffered a dislocated ankle.Today in Oberhausen, he fought hard when it counted most. The third round proved that he belonged in the UFC. Vemola looks awesome at light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli has been in there with some pretty impressive fighters, that includes battling giants in the 230-260 pound range during Season 2 of "The Ultimate Fighter." So it was a bit shocking to see Karlos Vemola repeatedly slamming "The Silverback" on his head during their undercard bout. From the opening seconds, Vemola wanted no part of the standup game so charged forward to play to his strength as a former amateur wrestler. He scored two huge takedowns. His strength was overwhelming. Petruzelli got to his feet but couldn't keep Vemola away. It went down a third time with 2:17 left in the first and that's where the Czech landed a huge right that may have broken Petruzelli's nose. He rolled to his side and covered up. Referee Leon Roberts jumped in to save Petruzelli at 3:46 of the first. Vemola (7-1, 1-1 UFC) debuted in the UFC at heavyweight and lost to the much bigger Jon Madsen at UFC 118. He's a physical specimen but was simply too small to compete with the big boys at only 220 pounds. In his first fight down at 205, his stamina was solid. Vemola needs a lot of work on the feet but his wrestling and strength may good enough to compete at a high level in the light heavyweight division. Keep in mind, he's only 25 years old. A nasty kneebar from Rocha sends TUF 11 runner-up McCray packing With the addition of the WEC fighters at 135 and 145 pounds, the UFC roster is deeper than ever. That's also means the competition to stay on the roster is tougher than ever. Today at UFC 122, the runner-up from TUF 11, Kris McCray may have blown his shot with the promotion. McCray, a good wrestler, played with fire by going to the ground with Brazilian jiu-jitsu whiz Carlos Eduardo Rocha. Rocha made him pay. The 29-year-old took advantage of a McCray mistake and slapped on a kneebar. McCray's left leg was hyperextended badly. He had no choice but tap at 2:21 of the first round. Pop-star rivalry has been around for years. Whether it was Britney vs. Christina or Mariah vs. Whitney, there's always been an underlying competition between your favorite female pop singers. But don't expect any animosity between today's stars, at least not from Ke$ha.
The wilding-out singer, who's the latest Complex cover girl, spoke with the magazine about her pop-star peers, including Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
"I actually think that's cool," the singer said of the female stars she's being compared to. "Out of that group of chicks, I'm the new bitch on the block, so I'm still getting used to being compared to some of the biggest pop stars in the world, but I don't take any offense to it.
That just means people know my records."
Earlier this year, Ke$ha teamed up with Rihanna for the Barbadian bombshell's girl-power trek, the Last Girl on Earth Tour. Despite the duo's pairing, the blogosphere went into a fury when Rihanna recently revealed that she "didn't want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry could do."
The party-loving pop star admitted that she hadn't even read the quote, suggesting that the media may have taken Rih's comments out of context.
"I'm so used to the media flipping my words around that I'm sure she meant absolutely no offense to me or Katy or Gaga," said the singer.
"Rihanna and me are totally cool, we were just on tour together, and I know that she and Katy are good friends. I don't take any offense because I'm sure it's bullsh-- anyway."
Based on the garbage-bag ensemble she wore to this year's MTV Video Music Awards, it seems that Ke$ha could care less about other people's opinions. "I was trying to look super-hot," she said. "I like to poke fun at when people make fun of me, because I don't take myself that seriously. People say I'm 'garbage chic,' so I thought I'd take it to the next level and make a garbage bag super f---ing chic — and I succeeded!"
As for now, the singer is focusing on her recently released Cannibal, a companion album to her debut, Animal.

Based on the garbage-bag ensemble she wore to this year's MTV Video Music Awards, it seems that Ke$ha could care less about other people's opinions. "I was trying to look super-hot," she said. "I like to poke fun at when people make fun of me, because I don't take myself that seriously. People say I'm 'garbage chic,' so I thought I'd take it to the next level and make a garbage bag super f---ing chic — and I succeeded!"
As for now, the singer is focusing on her recently released Cannibal, a companion album to her debut, Animal.

Justin Bieber has been known to dabble in the world of rap. Not only does he perform the rap portion of "Baby" when he sings the song live — since Ludacris isn't always available to hit the stage with the singer — he even dropped a rap song this fall under the rap pseudonym Shawty Mane in which he raps over Vado and Cam'ron's "Speaking in Tungs."
Now fans are waiting for what Bieber and Young Money MC Lil Twist will share with the world on their mixtape, some of which Lil Twist teased might drop very soon. When MTV News caught up with Bieber on Sunday at the American Music Awards, he said he had no further details to share about the collaboration. "I don't know man," he said, with a smile on his face. "Lil Twist is my homey and we're working on stuff for fun."
Of course, even if the mixtape never sees the light of day, Bieber has plenty of projects already under way, including the releases of My Worlds Acoustic this Friday and his 3-D movie, "Never Say Never," next year. "I think this is only the beginning," he said. "There's so much more to come and I just hope that I have the career that Usher, my mentor, has had."
It's a sentiment that Usher shares. "There's so much more in store for the future, or at least there's a ton of things we can do and will," he said. "And with the support of his fans, who will continue to just grow and grow and grow."

Less that 24 hours after posting our previous Moto2 update, more details have come to light about who will be riding where for 2011, as well as a few corrections on Monday's list. The most interesting piece of information to come out was the introduction of Marc Marquez Monlau Competicion Moto2 team. The newly-crowned 125cc champion will continue to receive backing from the Spanish petroleum giant Repsol, as expected, but will also be funded by Caixa Catalunya, a regional Spanish bank from (predictably) the Catalunya region of Spain. The team has finally decided to race a Suter Moto2 chassis, rather than the FTR chassis they had been expected to race, after Marquez and his manager Emilio Alzamora vetoed the choice of the team, who had wanted to field an FTR.

On this day, November 9, way back in 2004, Firefox 1.0 launched. On that day, the Internet changed for ever, its makeup indelibly altered. Firefox made the Web more secure, faster, standards-compliant -- and, most importantly, it made the Web open.
Before Firefox there was only Internet Explorer and Netscape -- a war that had no winners and many scrolling marquee losers. Firefox changed everything with its radically different, 'build a better browser and they will come' approach. And today, with some 30% of the market and the richest feature set of any browser, that approach has paid off.

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.
The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.

Social browsing with Mozilla Labs F1 -- how RockMelt should've been
Mozilla Labs has just let loose the next stage in browser empowerment: F1. In one fell swoop, with just a single add-on, F1 brings social sharing to Firefox. With F1 installed, it's just a matter of clicks to share a site with Twitter, Facebook or Gmail.
The F1 button, which works in Firefox 3.6 and 4.0, sits in the top right corner of your browser, next to the search bar. The first time you use it, you need to authorize any (or all) of the three services. After that, you simply hit the F1 button, select a sharing service, and hit share. In case you were wondering, hitting F1 on the keyboard doesn't work -- that still brings up the Firefox help pages, alas. There's a video of it in action after the break.
It's painfully simple and stunningly effective. Sharing services like AddToAny and ShareThis have been deprecated by a 35 kilobyte Firefox add-on. F1 is faster, more convenient and unfailingly secure -- and this is just the beginning! While it only supports Facebook, Twitter and Gmail for now, Mozilla Labs talks about an API that will allow social sites to hook into Firefox; in theory, F1 could support any and all sharing services, all from within the browser.
This is the beginning of the end for the 'Share' block that hunkers like a hairy, unkempt baboon beneath each and every blog post on the Web. It really makes you wonder what exactly RockMelt spent 10 million dollars and two years of development on. -- The WEC gave out $10,000 bonuses. Fight of the Night went to Mackens Semerzier and Cub Swanson (pictured above), Submission of the Night to Urijah Faber and Erik Koch will take the Knockout of the Night bonus back to Milwaukee.-- Chad Mendes said that Javier Vazquez's mind games went beyond trash talk. Vazquez sent baby food, stuffed animals and toys to his hotel room in Las Vegas, but Mendes enjoyed every minute of it.-- In his first bout at bantamweight, Faber said the weight cut was easier than he expected, but a clean diet helped him hit 135 lbs. He said cutting down was fun, which is not something that many fighters will call weight-cutting. He came into the fight around 149.5 lbs.-- Faber also said that he had no idea that Takeya Mizugaki was choked out. Because of the position he was in, he didn't know and couldn't see that his opponent was unconscious. WEC GM Reed Harris pointed out that Faber went above and beyond in sportsmanship after the fight was stopped by staying prone underneath Mizugaki so that medical staff could tend to him. -- Though Faber is old friends with Scott Jorgensen, he said that he wouldn't be against fighting Jorgensen for a belt, should Jorgensen win at WEC 53. He said he would rather fight Dominick Cruz, but is rooting for Jorgensen to win that title bout. -- "I think flyweight is a necessity for me. I have to eat a lot and work hard to get to this weight," Demetrious Johnson said. Though he has done well at 135, Johnson's size would be better suited to flyweight (125 lbs.) He said he'll fight wherever he is asked to, but he would like flyweight better.-- Wins from Faber, Mendes and Joseph Benavidez meant that Team Alpha Male had a clean sweep at 52. Faber called the evening a "proud papa moment," as he helped both Benavidez and Mendes get into MMA. -- When asked about future career plans, Mendes said that he wants to have his own hunting, fishing and outdoors show. Since the fights aired on Versus, the home of many such programming, Mendes will get his wish.

Mercedes To Become Ducati MotoGP Team's "Official Car Partner"
That the marriage between two of the strongest brands in Italy, Valentino Rossi and Ducati, should turn into a marketing goldmine comes as no surprise. Even before Rossi's signing with Ducati was officially announced, rumors among paddock insiders suggested that Ducati had sponsors lining up to back their MotoGP program, and now that the new season is approaching, Ducati is starting to pick the fruits of that.
For yesterday, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, AMG - a high-performance subsidiary of the Mercedes Benz brand - announced that they are to enter into a marketing partnership that will see the German car manufacturer support Ducati's MotoGP project. The partnership will not produce much in the way of visible sponsorship on the bikes, for Mercedes is to be "Official Car Partner" to the program, rather than any form of main sponsor. The pair will engage in joint marketing activities, including allowing selected Mercedes owners to test ride Ducati's new Diavel machine at AMG events, while selected Ducati owners will be given the opportunity to test Mercedes vehicles.

Lance Bass: Justin Timberlake's Too Busy for an *NSYNC Reunion
Beloved boy bands New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys have teamed up to form a nostalgic heartthrob super group called NKOTBSB. But after their debut performance at the American Music Awards earlier this week, fans of another pop group are getting a little jealous.
So, when can we expect an *NSYNC comeback?
Unfortunately, fans of the rival pop group shouldn't be holding their breath for a tour. *NSYNC's own Lance Bass told E! Online backstage at the AMAs, "I don't see that coming anytime soon." The biggest deterring factor: his former band mate, mega-star Justin Timberlake.
"Justin's very busy with his acting career right now, so I think it's going to be quite a while before we even think about doing anything," Bass said. This year alone, Timberlake has starred in two films, including the critically acclaimed The Social Network, which earned him early Oscar buzz.
Okay, so Timberlake may be a little too cool for a boy-band reunion. But that doesn't mean Bass and his fellow *NSYNC-ers (JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone) couldn't go it alone! "I love being on the stage," Bass told E! "So yeah, anytime the guys would want to do an album, I'm in!"
While fans eagerly wait to see if another *NSYNC tour or album ever happens (or a new Timberlake solo album, for that matter), Rolling Stone had their own ideas on how the group could still have their own comeback, despite the circumstances. BSB is going on with their tour, even with founding member Kevin Richardson opting out. But, could a non-Timberlake *NSYNC tour work?
RS theorizes that the guys could be successful on their own. In fact, they may even be able to change Timberlake's mind. "Maybe when he sees how easily his former group starts raking in money he'll be down for a handful of shows," the magazine said.
While the band would surely take a hit from the absence of their most swoon-worthy member, we're guessing there are still a few die-hard fans who would pay big bucks to hear "Bye Bye Bye" one more time.

Lauzon ready for challenges from Sotiropoulos and 'Call of Duty'
DETROIT -- Joe Lauzon lucked out. The release of "Call of Duty: Black Ops" came just a week before his UFC 123 bout with George Sotiropoulos, so the noted gamer could spend time on the latest video game as he tapered down workouts. "It came last week, which was my taper week, so it didn't interfere, but I was a little worried. If it would have been one or two weeks earlier, it would have been bad," Lauzon said. He is ready to make the jump to the top of the UFC's lightweight division, and Lauzon plans to use George Sotiropoulos as a springboard. "I'm excited for it, because it means I don't have to beat that lower level guy. I can just jump right up," Lauzon said. "Beating a guy whose 6-0, 7-0 in the UFC and close to a title shot definitely puts me close to the top." To get that win, Lauzon is going to do what he can to make sure that Sotiropoulos has no extra advantages, including his controversial practice of wearing knee and ankle braces that cover most of his leg."I've asked the commission what my choices are. In the past, all the commissions that I've dealt with have said he can wear something soft as long as the opponent agreed. People are saying I'm calling him a cheater. I'm not."Lauzon doesn't want to allow Sotiriopoulos even the slightest advantage, because if he loses a close decision, he doesn't want to look back and wonder, "What if?" "I'm leaning towards telling him no knee pad, no ankle brace. I don't think he's wearing him because he has bad knees and bad ankles. I think he wears them because he does a lot of high rubber guard, and it helps with the slipping. If I could take away that advantage, I will." He was pleasantly surprised when he was offered a fight with Sotiropoulos, a fighter who is on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC."It's a huge jump. I think I was building pretty good momentum, and then I lost to Sam Stout. Sam beat me fair and square. He was the better guy that night, but I think if I wouldn't have rushed coming back from knee surgery so much, it would have been a different fight. I think to the UFC, that fight never happened, so that's why I'm getting such a big fight now." As he's done in previous fights, Lauzon designed a special shirt for his cornermen, friends and family. It takes a swipe at the Australian-born Sotiropoulos, reading, "According to Australian Game and Wildlife, 100 people are killed every year by adult Joeys. You've been warned."

Late last night Opera released version 10.1 of its browser for Android. It's a beta build, and don't be fooled by the version number: it's obviously meant to show that this is the desktop browser, but ported to your phone -- just like Firefox 4 Mobile.
If you've used Opera Mini, the light-weight, designed-for-dumbphones browser, Opera Mobile will feel very familiar to you.
Mobile keeps the ability to 'remotely render' websites, both reducing bandwidth use and speeding up site loads -- but you can now turn that off and have every site rendered locally with the excellent Presto layout engine.
Amongst other changes, Opera Mobile brings SVG support to Android, a rather lovely tab management pane and support for Opera's sync tool, Link. A full feature list can be found on the Opera website.

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker's divorce looks like it's going to keep getting uglier. First, there were rumors of infidelity involving Parker, then Longoria appeared to blindside her soon-to-be-ex-husband by filing divorce papers in Los Angeles last Wednesday.
Then, Parker hit back by initiating his own surprise divorce proceedings in his native Texas. TMZ reported that the Friday (November 19) filing was a surprise to Longoria and her lawyers and that the "Desperate Housewives" star was "very upset" when she found out about it.
As for the reason for the divorce, Parker's petition reportedly states that, "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationships and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."
Citing unnamed sources, the gossip site reported that both sides wanted to enforce the prenup they signed before their lavish 2007 wedding. When Longoria's lawyer filed her divorce papers, the box that reserved her right to collect spousal support was checked, violating the terms of the prenup.
Fearing that Longoria's actions left open the chance that she would challenge the prenup, Parker's lawyers took preemptive action to protect his client in Texas by counter-filing. The move was made because it could be easier for Parker to enforce the prenup in Texas than in California. The site noted that Parker's divorce papers did not mention the prenup, but instead said that he believed Longoria "will enter into an agreement for the division of their estate."
After earlier denying that she and basketball player Parker, 28, were headed for divorce, Longoria, 35, filed papers on Wednesday citing "irreconcilable differences" and seeking spousal support from the San Antonio Spurs star.
TMZ reported that calm had been restored by Sunday and that there was no more drama over the dueling petitions, but as of press time there were still two divorce filings in two different states, so one of the stars is going to have to blink.

Don't call it a comeback, but following a tumultuous 2009 that included a messy divorce, Usher could describe the past 12 months as his climb back to the top. Now, he's celebrating with a national tour.
"Been hard at work getting ready for this tour ... Man, ya'll are really in for a treat," the singer tweeted Monday. "I'm on. Twits back up."
Recently, MTV News caught up with Ursh about his upcoming national run.
"The tour starts November 13 in Seattle," Usher said. "[Producer] Max Martin made an incredible record with 'DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love,' but what would I expect: less? He's one of the best."
Racking up several hits on the Billboard chart this year, including "OMG" featuring will.i.am, his current single checks in at #5 on the Hot 100, and Usher couldn't be happier.
"[I'm] loving it. Just in time for an incredible tour," Usher said during a recent visit to New York. "I took a step away from L.A. tonight. My dancers and crew are real hot with me right now."
Earlier this week, the singer was nominated for four Soul Train Awards, along with Alicia Keys. Usher is up for Best R&B/Soul Artist Male, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Dance Performance.
The singer was confident that his upcoming run will be memorable. "The tour's gonna be incredible," Usher said. "Incredible records go with incredible tours."

Urijah Faber is starting a new chapter in his storied MMA career tonight as he takes on Takeya Mizugaki in Faber's first bout at bantamweight. The 10-lb. weight difference for the former featherweight champ will allow him to take on a different breed of fighter as he, like the rest of the WEC, transitions to the UFC. Mt. Usher's VMA-Nominated 'OMG' Inspired By '80s Sci-Fi Character
Director Anthony Mandler wanted to let R&B superstar take viewers 'on a journey, not a ride.'By Jayson Rodriguez

For a video as forward-thinking as Usher's "OMG" -- with its laser beams and light flashes -- director Anthony Mandler actually looked back for inspiration.
"The original idea was kind of Max Headroom," Mandler told MTV News, citing the animated science-fiction character from '80s British TV. "That's where it came from — the TV flickering on and there's this character. We just wanted to bring it up to date."
"Max Headroom was always in his room," he continued, "this unidentifiable room, '80s shapes. I used that for inspiration."
The formula worked: "OMG" is among the Best Male Video nominees for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The clip is up against Drake's "Find Your Love," Jason Derülo's "In My Head," Eminem's "Not Afraid" and B.o.B's "Airplanes." Mandler is a multiple nominee, having also helmed Drake's video.
"OMG" is the first time Usher and Mandler — who has worked with Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna — collaborated on a project.
Usher said he knew the video would be a challenge and wanted to make sure the director was up to the task.
"When I first shot the song to him, I was like, 'Are you sure you're gonna be able to catch this one?' And he said, 'I got it,' " Usher explained.
"We wanted to bring Will.I.Am (the song's producer) into my world," he continued. "Obviously, the international sound and look and feel has already been set, but we wanted to do something theatrical, fun and energetic to show us working off of each other and playing off of each other as artists, but the cinematography would be artistic and incredible."
Mandler described the visuals as "Hitchcock-ian." Though the style of the shot was important to the director, he had a simpler goal in mind: to capture Usher in his element. He said the key to the clip was simply letting Usher's talent take over.
"The concept was to create a world where we put Usher in a space where he does what I think he does better than anyone else in the world, which is perform at a level and magnitude of a superstar and take us, the viewer, whether audible or visually, on a journey, not a ride," the director said. "And, in that, I wanted to create an unpredictability, so one set leads to another and another, and you never know what's gonna happen. Along the way, Usher becomes our guide. We're so focused on him, we don't notice the change. The thing is unfolding little by little, and you can't quite see far enough ahead to know what's gonna come next."
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through September 12.

Back when his 16-year-old protégé, Justin Bieber, was still a toddler, the ATL singer was making the ladies faint with hits like "You Make Me Wanna" and "Nice & Slow." But his early success was just a prelude to the music-world domination he's achieved with club bangers and deeply personal slow jams in the years since.
Usher's divorce from Tameka Foster was the latest personal development to fueled his 2010 chart-topping album Raymond v. Raymond. Now the singer is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards, and his smash "OMG" will battle it out for a Moonman in three categories: Best Male Video, Best Dance Video and Best Choreography. Here's a look at how the singer's recent success has steered him toward VMA accolades:
Following the release of the divorce-themed "Papers," his more upbeat video "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" premiered in January 2010. The clip followed the romantic superstar as he tried to juggle the demands of his professional and personal life.
In March, Usher talked to MTV News about incorporating that balance into Raymond Vs. Raymond. "I think this is the one time where I'm able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional."
So, it wasn't a big surprise that when Raymond Vs. Raymond finally landed on shelves after several delays, it landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 with over 300,000 scans during its first week.
He went from romantic to racy, busting out his signature, fluid, hip-swiveling moves in the video for "Lil Freak," featuring Nicki Minaj. The star didn't hold back in the visuals or the lyrics, which both detail a freaky rendezvous with some very game ladies. The club anthem "OMG" featured Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am and revealed the R&B kingpin's more club-friendly side. The accompanying video showcased Usher's easy swagger and ever-sharp dance skills.
Raymond was such a hit that in August the singer released Versus, an extension of the smash album featuring songs like the Jay-Z collabo "Hot Tottie."
Usher, who has a history of tearing up the VMA stage, will return to the main event this year. He recently reminded his fans that live television paired with his onstage wizardry can result in some seriously unforgettable moments. "You never know what's gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage," he said. "I look forward to making it a night to remember."

By now, you are probably aware that Lady Gaga's upcoming Born This Way album is "incredible," "shocking," "bold and beautiful," "utter liberation," and, of course, "crazy amazing."
But what you might not have known is that it is finally, totally, completely finished. Almost.
That's according to Gaga herself, who took to her Twitter account on Wednesday to announce that she's nearly wrapped production on Born, and that her little monsters' long wait is just about over. Unless she's not satisfied with every last detail, of course.
"Endless melodies, hooks [and] poetry sledge-hammering my skull," she tweeted. "It won't be much longer, it's almost perfect. But I (we) don't want almost."
Of course, there's still no release date (tentative or otherwise) for Born This Way, though Gaga has been playing songs from the album — like "You And I" and "Living on the Radio" — since the summer, and has discussed the project at length during her Monster Ball performances. In September, at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, she announced the title of the album after winning Video of the Year.
Those who have heard Born This Way can't seem to stop gushing over it. On Tuesday, MTV News caught up with Gaga's label boss, Akon, who said the album "is definitely ... a notch up" from her previous work, and that she's "taking things to the next level."
Gaga's manager, Troy Carter, said that he's just starting to play music from Born for Interscope Records, and that the songs on the album are "incredible." He also hinted that the album would be "coming soon."

WIth resorts from California to Utah and Vermont spinning their lifts, it's high time the Pacific Northwest got in on the action. Snowboard season is officially here.
